Video will become available 10 minutes before session start

Checkpointing is one of the main issues in PostgreSQL which determines the impact of write/read performance because it involves a lot of processing by the CPU. Assuming the database server is hosted on a node/machine with just a CPU(but with no separate I/O processor). If checkpointing is not tuned well, it makes the CPU very busy than usual. Thus it affects read/write performance of database server since the processor is mostly focused on transferring dirty buffers from memory to the data files on disk. Understanding your application and database infrastructure helps in tuning checkpointing well.
