Deep Dive into InnoDB Transactions

Video will become available 10 minutes before session start

This talk will discuss RDBMS transactions in detail, including a discussion of all aspects of ACID compliant transactions, including how isolation levels affect SQL statements. Transaction isolation is perhaps the least understood aspect of transactions by many SQL developers, and the visibility of rows to writes, particularly in repeatable-read transaction isolation levels can be confusing.

This talk is inspired by MySQL bug 102752, which was verified by the MySQL bug verification team, but is not in fact a bug at all, but a misunderstanding of transaction isolation. At the time of the writing of this abstract, this bug remains verified. This talk will discuss locking, gap locks, visibility of rows to reads and writes, phantom reads, and all the other aspects of ACID compliance.
