Cluster-Consistent MongoDB Hot Backups

Video will become available 10 minutes before session start

Hot backups have the best performance amongst all backup solutions, and offer perfect consistency for a single node or replica set. But how do you get a perfectly consistent restore from a MongoDB sharded cluster given you'll have slight timing differences starting the parallel hot backup in each shard?

By making use of *storage engine incremental backups* the cluster timestamp of the full, hot backups from each shard (and the config server replica set) can be rounded up to a matching time.

This talk will look at the $backupCursor and $backupCursorExtend operations that give this ability to us, plus preview Percona Server for MongoDB's "createBackup" command in the mongos node.
